Working out with Bands

Gym memberships are growing in popularity as more people become aware of the need to stay fit in order to maintain good health. Although working out at the gym provides fitness fans with a wide variety of different exercise equipment and machines to choose from, one easy-to-use item of fitness equipment that can deliver tremendous health benefits, yet is often overlooked, is the exercise band. Also called resistance bands, the new breed of exercise bands are versatile, full tubes with sturdy handles on the end that come in various tensions and the ability to perform hundreds of exercises.

In the past, strength trainers employed various free weights, or performed squats, sit ups, and push ups, all using the force of gravity to provide the resistance. Exercise bands provide more variety because you can create resistance from any direction and a band provides resistance all the way through an entire exercise motion, not just one way. Band workouts involve more muscle groups to stabilize your body against the resistance and lead to more muscle definition and a better all-over workout. Because users are in control of how much tension they put on each band, they are perfect for all users regardless of their levels of fitness starting out.

Exercise bands are available in many different resistance levels so that anyone can workout comfortably. Exercise bands can also be used in conjunction with other exercise equipment like bars and benches to produce specific muscle movements with very little impact on the joints. Many women are attracted to training with exercise bands because they can make muscles look better without adding bulk. This can be important for women who want to workout and get lean, but not end up looking masculine.

Users can gradually increase the resistance of the bands they are using in their workouts to gradually strengthen their muscles. This can be very useful for anyone in rehabilitation from an injury, or pregnant women and older adults. Because exercise bands are super affordable, anyone can afford to own a few at home and they can also be carried wherever you go. Because exercise bands are so versatile, easy-to-use, and completely safe too, they might just be the perfect piece of exercise equipment at both the gym and at home.
